BHO or butane harsh oil extraction is a method used to extract the essential oils and resins from cannabis by pushing liquid butane (which liquefies easily) through a tube packed with frosty buds of the marijuana plant. The final consistency of BHO differs depending on the manufacturing method hence people use different names like honeycomb, shatter or ear wax to describe the different textures. THC content can be as high as 80-90% under this form of extraction. Butane is highly flammable hence improper production practices can lead to explosions and fires.
