Trichomes are translucent resin glands protruding from the buds and leaves of a cannabis plant. They contain a high concentration of cannabinoids and terpenes responsible for the many medical and recreational benefits of the cannabis plant. When looked under a microscope, they appear like mushroom protrusions lying on the surface of the buds, leaves and stalk with each part giving certain value to the plant. It is believed that the trichomes serve as a plant’s defense mechanism, protecting it from threats and natural predators in the environment.
